MSC Seaside dares to be different with a bold new design

MSC Cruises’ Seaside ship,  launching in Miami in December 2017, dares to be different for its 4,140 guests by putting them “closer to the sea” in its bold design. It boasts a 360-degree seafront promenade and a high ratio of open areas. The ship will also be characterized by the most interactive aqua park at sea with five water slides. Two decks on the ship will offer activities, including adventure trails and different slides, for children and families. It will be the first cruise ship to feature slideboarding technology, which combines a unique waterslide and interactive video game. The 367=foot, two-storey slide comes with a sleekly-designed raft with embedded game controller.

On duelling high-speed aquatubes, guests can race against each other on  525-foot slides with twists, turns and drops, that partially extend over the side of the ship, giving the riders a view of the sea.

AquaPlay and AquaSpray are two play areas in the AquaPark that will be dedicated for young travellers. The areas will feature an active and colourful water play area, with tipping buckets, spray cannons, solid stream jets, a rain tree, and a mini-slide. Other AquaSpray activities will include jets, falls, and forts for all ages.

Adventure trail is another activity area where guests will find a rope course between soaring towers, rope bridges, climbs, crawl-throughs and slides. It will be directly connected to the aqua park.

Other entertainment areas on the ship will include a new theatre, a comedy club, and a full-sized bowling alley.

The ship will feature open modular connected staterooms – convertible staterooms that can accommodate up to 10 people – for families and groups, as well as luxury suites with private Jacuzzis and hanging gardens. MSC Seaside will also have an enhanced MSC Yacht Club with private solarium, lounge and pool.

The public spaces of the ship will feature breathtaking views with a two-deck glass-walled atrium and panoramic exterior elevators. It will set a new standard in cruise vacations by blending wide family offerings with distinct elegance, with a wide choice of indoor/outdoor dining and bars and beautifully designed entertainment spaces.

MSC Seaside will feature nine food outlets, of which five will be select restaurants and four will be themed restaurants, including a steak house, and fish, teppanyanki and fusion restaurants. The vessel will also have 20  bars.

MSC Seaside is the first of two identical ships on order from the Fincantieri shipyard, the second of which will enter in to service in 2018. In addition, MSC Cruises has an option for an additional Seaside generation ship to be delivered by 2021.

MSC Seaside and her sister ship will set new standards for eco-friendliness, featuring Advanced Water Treatment (AWT) systems to remove pollutants and hazardous substances from waste water; garbage treatment plants for highly efficient solid waste management; scrubbers to reduce emissions; antifouling paints; and optimized hull lines, propellers and rudders to reduce drag and fuel consumption.

In addition, the ships will have LED lighting, meaning lower energy demand and significantly lower fuel consumption, as well as advanced heat recovery plants to feed fresh water, laundry, swimming pools and hot water.
