To mark the 70th anniversary of the birth of the Italian Republic, Costa Cruises is staging a series of events in celebration of Italian style and excellence on board its ships, which all fly the Tricolore (Italy’s national flag).
A symbol of Italian-made excellence worldwide, Costa Cruises hosted receptions in honour of the Festa della Repubblica, organized by the Italian embassies in Denmark and Norway on two ships in its fleet: the first event will be held in Copenhagen on May 28 on board the Costa Favolosa, while the second was on the Costa Pacifica in Oslo on May 30.
The 2016 celebrations are of particular significance because this year is the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Italian Republic; accordingly, the two Costa ships will be the venues for cultural exchanges designed to promote Italian taste and excellence with the local community. Celebrations in Copenhagen, in the presence of Italian Ambassador Stefano Queirolo Palmas and local government representatives, will highlight the extraordinary preference of Danish public for tourism to Italy and for
Italian most iconic products. As part of the festivities in Oslo, the Costa Pacifica will welcome on board the main Italian brands operating in Norway. In attendance will be the Italian Ambassador Giorgio Novello, who will use the occasion to announce the start of an important road show intended to support Italian excellence in Norway: the project will embrace towns and cities like Oslo, Stavanger, Bergen, Bodø, Trondheim and Ålesund, and there will also be initiatives arranged in Italy with the involvement of companies and organizations that have long-established dealings with Norway.
“The Italian Republic is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year and we’re proud to be taking part in the commemorative events,” said Costa Cruises President Neil Palomba. “We’re also proud to be global ambassadors for Italian excellence: for 68 years our ships have offered hundreds of thousands of guests from all over the world only ‘Italy’s finest’, a concept that is inextricably linked to our company’s roots and identity. To mark Italy’s national day on June 2, once again we intend to invite people to rediscover just how much excellence our country has to offer in terms of quality, style, hospitality and food and wine.”
In addition to the events in Copenhagen and Oslo, Costa will celebrate June 2 with all its cruise guests on board its ships: the program includes a menu dedicated to and inspired by the Tricolore, based on traditional recipes from different regions of Italy, as well as the playing of the national anthem.
